in the background of a 911 tape from the night trayvon martin was killed. meantime, another big decision came this morning on a motion regarding words allowed during opening statements. the judge ruled that the state can use the word profiling but not racial profiling. the state can also use the word vigilante to describe zimmerman along with the phrase want-to-be cop. zimmerman has pleaded not guilty in the shooting death of trayvon martin. he claims self-defense. martin was unarmed. nbc's ron mott joins us. the judge's decision is interesting on the key words we've talked so much about. >> reporter: the one key consideration the judge made with respect to profiling, as you mentioned, was that they cannot say racial profiling, but because that word has been used so often, profiling, in our society here over the past few years, one would presume that a lot of the jurors will immediately link race to that. so we'll just have to see how the state will present the opening arguments. interestingly, the judge has not released the order as of yet on this frye hearing. that's all about that 911 call

and have opinions on are the protests and rallies that happened after trayvon martin was shot and the juror that is now being questioned said i know they came to support but i'm not sure that it was necessary at the time. i think if they had stayed where they were they could have been much more effective because by coming here they increased the emotion and intensity of this. another juror who is five and a half months pregnant made a statement on her questionnaire. the prosecutor had an issue with. someone lost their life and that's sad but somewhere along the way it happens. a lot of questions on that and it wasn't until she was questioned by the defense that she said in my line of work people die all the time. i guess i've become a little hardened to that because i see it constantly. some questions like that and also an east asian man said he stands occuut and he says you h to wait approxima. you don't know the evidence. >> it's so interesting how people relate this to their own lives whether it be the protest or rallies or how they form their own opinions. there's also been a hearing. t

an unarmed teenager, trayvon martin, last year. a jury has been picked, we are told. this information just coming in now to cnn. of course he faces, george zimmerman there, neighborhood watchman, faces second defwree murd murder charges in that case. we have been following it here for the entire time. it took a while to pick the jury because they were concerned about finding someone who had not been swayed by media coverage, of course in a small town. smaller town. a municipality like sanford, florida. there was concern about that. it took a while, but they did find jurors who they said were not -- at least had seen something of it on the media but had not seen a lot on television or radio or reading newspapers. the jury had to answer lots of questions from both sides, from both attorneys from both sides. finally a jury has been picked. it has taken a couple of weeks for them to do that. we are told that this -- originally they thought it was going to take four to six weeks for this trial. now they're thinking probably two to four weeks. according to all of our legal analysts, that's just

of hours. it involves the 911 tape from the night trayvon martin was killed. ron mott joins us. what did we learn? >> reporter: the judge, this is a much anticipated ruling, the judge is going to allow that 911 call to be played in court. what she's not going to allow is the state to call two experts, audio experts, who claimed they listened to these tape, analyzed them and say it's not george zimmerman it's on the tape. they will not be allowed to testify at trial. take a look at what the judge had to write. there's no competent evidence that the scientific techniques used by dr. owen generally accepted in the scientific field. this order does not prevent the parties from playing the tapes or calling witnesses familiar with the voice of the witness or martin to testify. the prosecution can still call witnesses who may say they know that that was trayvon martin's voice. the defense can call witnesses including even george zimmerman himself to say whether or not he believes that was george zimmerman making the screams as well. >> on the heels of that george zimmerman's attorney has reacted.
